Unity Opto expects Q3 revenues to reach $39 million

Spurred by medium to large-sized LED backlight order, Unity Opto Tech's Q3 margin rose significantly, with Q3 revenue forecasted to reach $39 million.

Unity Opto’s efforts in the investment of medium- and large-sized LED backlight has finally paid off in 2009 – stimulated by the successful adoption of LED TV into Samsung’s supply chain and increased LED notebook penetration, Unity Opto’s orders continue to boom in Q3. With revenues in July growing at 18.23% MoM to $12 million, it set a record high of single-month growth for the third consecutive month. With lucrative orders full-loaded, Unity Opto’s revenues in August and September may set new highs and drive Q3 revenue up to $39 million.

With increasing popularity of LED notebooks, monitors, and TV in the second half of this year, Unity Opto’s sales figures skyrocketed and its order visibility extends through October. Furthermore, with strong LED backlight demand, Q3 gross margin is projected to grow by 2~4% to 24~25%.
