Stray Light Correction Enhances UV LEDs Measurement Accuracy

Instrument Systems GmbH Munich is a leader indeveloping and manufacturing high-precision light measurement systems. With the new offer of stray light correction during the calibration of array spectrometers, Instrument Systems now is the first company to serve the broad market. By including a stray light correction matrix in the calibration process, it is possible to suppress the stray light during the measurement by an order of magnitude down to 10-5. A 10% higher sensitivity in the UV range after stray light corrected calibration leads to about 3-4% higher accuracy in the radiometric measurement. The more accurate determination of the radiometric values of UV LEDs facilitates their characterization and development, and supports the various applications of these radiation sources, for example, in the field of coating, curing, disinfection or biomedicine.

In determining the x, y color coordinates of white and colored LEDs, stray light corrected devices from Instrument Systems achieve an improvement in the measurement accuracy of high-quality array spectrometers between 0.0015 to 0.0020, thus approaching further the high precision requirements of the LED industry. For the evaluation of the photobiological safety, particularly the blue light hazard of the human eye, the stray light corrected array spectrometers provide with their increased measurement accuracy and dynamic range a suitable and cost effective alternative to monochromators.

The stray light correction is performed once before (re)calibration at Instrument Systems and is automatically applied to the measured spectra by the SpecWin Pro software as of version 3.1. For the user, there is no additional effort.
