LG Chem High-Efficacy OLED Panels Catches up with LEDs

News Source:

LG Chem has developed the world’s first OLED light panel with high luminous efficacy and long-lasting performance that can compete with LED lights, according to a report from The Korea Herald.

The company has developed OLED panels with an efficacy rate of 100 lumens per watt with a lifetime of about 40,000 hours. Still 10,000 hours less than the average LED light. Existing OLED efficacy on average are around 60 lm/w.

New OLED panels will weigh 20 percent lighter than existing LED lights, since it does not require additional heat sinks and components, which results in fewer processing procedures, said the company.
