At the launch event to be held in March in New York, Jong-Hee Han, Head of Samsung Visual Display Business, will disclose the company’s outlooks and strategies for 2018 following the introduction of new QLED TVs.

Samsung’s flagship of 2018 is a high-end black QLED TV. The direct-lit LED backlights within the display even the light distribution and stress the feature of local dimming. A black QD filter is placed in the new panel structure to prevent leakage of light. It makes sure the light of each pixel is delivered directly forward.

The company demonstrated a black level comparison between its new QLED TV and an OLED TV in a low light environment to emphasize the decent black level abilities of its QLED TV.

Samsung positions its TVs with sizes over 60 inches, especially those sized over 70 inches, as well as its large displays (over 100 inches) as the major products.

It will also introduce its Micro LED TVs and 8K QLED TVs of various sizes at the launch event.

In the past, Samsung usually introduced its new products at CES in January each year. It stopped doing so because its competitors tended to steal the ideas about the products after those launches and produced their own products during the period—normally about 3-4 months—before Samsung officially rolled out its inventions to the market.

Samsung only revealed its latest Micro LED technology for its 146-inch modular TV The Wall and AI technology for the 85-inch QLED TV at CES 2018. However, it will not only launch a few TV lineups but announce new product strategies for this year.
