National Bank of Arizona Installs New LED Light Fixtures From LG Electronics, Daintree Networks

The new branch office for the National Bank of Arizona in Prescott is the first in the state to install new energy efficient LED lighting and HVAC technologies from LG Electronics and advanced control systems from Daintree Networks, Inc. Within the 3,000-square-foot facility, slated for completion in June, Daintree's ControlScope solution will manage 13 lighting zones controlling LG's industry-leading LED fixtures and nine thermostats controlling LG's highly efficient variable refrigerant flow (VRF) air conditioning system.

"Customer satisfaction is our overall goal at National Bank of Arizona. To achieve this goal we have to operate as efficiently as possible. These efforts go hand-in-hand to establish National Bank of Arizona as a leader in both energy efficiency and renewable energy," said Jason King, vice president of facilities and maintenance, with National Bank of Arizona. "Our customers know that reducing our energy usage and costs are our highest priorities. In looking at the options for building top-of-the-line energy management into our new site, the Daintree-LG solution offered the best combination of flexibility, ease-of-control, and both up-front and long-term cost savings."

Dr. Steve Oh, senior vice president in charge of product development for LG's North American LED Lighting Business, said, "The National Bank of Arizona's installation will demonstrate how significant energy savings can be realized from day one when installing proven LED and commercial AC products from LG with smart control technology from Daintree in a greenfield building project."

LG's new 2'x4' LED light fixtures have been recognized as the most energy efficient available* in the United States today, providing properties like the National Bank of Arizona with the latest in lighting technology and significant energy savings, assuring a long-term return on investment.

The National Bank of Arizona selected LG's latest VRF heating and cooling system that delivers unparalleled energy efficiency and flexibility. The fourth generation in LG's popular Multi V series uses industry-leading VRF technology that delivers significant benefits versus traditional HVAC systems, enabling improved energy efficiency by allowing occupants to choose whether to cool or heat only the zones in use.

Completing the National Bank of Arizona's infrastructure package is Daintree's industry-leading, networked wireless solution for smart building control and energy management.

According to McKinsey & Company, buildings alone account for nearly 25 percent of the investment required to achieve full global greenhouse gas (GHG) abatement potential by 2030, providing impetus for architects, building planners and facilities managers to make energy management a key component of new and retrofit installations. Furthermore, Arizona guidelines target reducing the state's GHG emissions to 2000 levels by 2020 and to 50 percent below 2000 levels by 2040.

Daintree CEO Danny Yu said, "There's no question that governments are serious about implementing plans to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas outputs, and enforcing them via increasingly stringent standards. Combining Daintree's software and wireless control with LG's energy-saving products goes a long way toward helping sustainability managers see the kinds of results they need in order to help achieve these goals, and offers significant cost savings, both immediate and long-term, compared with competitive offerings."

The Arizona bank installation further extends Daintree's relationship with LG Electronics, a member of Daintree's ControlScope Connected program, which showcases a range of wireless lighting and building products tested to work together for control and energy management using open standards. The two companies also recently announced a collaboration embedding wireless communication capability directly into LED drivers used inLG LED lighting fixtures managed by ControlScope.

LG Electronics USA and Daintree Networks will both be exhibiting at the 2014 Lightfair International trade show and conference, June 3-5, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Readers interested in learning more about their individual and joint solutions are invited to visit Daintree's Booth 7614 and LG's Booth 7202. LG and other ControlScope Connected partners will also feature Daintree demos in their booths.
