OSRAM sets lighting highlights during Eurpean Games 2015 in Azerbaijan. Subsidiary Siteco equips the Baku Olympic Stadium amongst others with HDTV-compatible floodlight, subsidiary Traxon turns the National Gymnastics Arena into a “lighting theater” with an impressive dynamic lighting solution.
Arena facade shines in impressive color combinations
Ahead of European Games in Baku, OSRAM has equipped the Azerbaijanian capital‘s National Gymnastics Arena with an innovative dynamic lighting solution. About 600 Traxon Wall Washer Shield AC XB will illuminate the exterior of the arena, making it appear in various colors to display impressive combinations like Azerbaijan national colors.

Professional lighting management with pre-programmed animations
Ten transparent screens around the venue's façade, realized with 11 km of Traxon Media Tubes, are mounted in a customized profile that is designed to provide mechanical stability. The sophisticated e:cue control solution starts automatically at night and switches off in the morning hours. Preprogrammed sequences orchestrate compositions of graphical animations on the screens and various color gradients on the ribbons.
HDTV-pitch illumination and grandstand lighting for a great atmosphere
To illuminate Baku Olympic Stadium and it’s warm-up field aside, Siteco floodlights have been installed. More than 600 R3 Maxi 2000W projectors were mounted for an HDTV-compatible pitch light. In addition 240 Siteco floodlights and projectors with different beam angles illuminate the terraces and create a perfect lighting ambiance for athletes and spectators. For indoor lighting more than 25 km of OSRAM LINEARLight Power Flex are installed.
Stadium will host the EURO 2020
The new multi-purpose stadium with approximately 68,000 seats fulfills the high standards of UEFA and FIFA. After the first European Games in 2015 it will be the home stadium of the national soccer team of Azerbaijan and one of the venues of the EURO 2020. The European Games are an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees of Europe and will start on June 12. Baku Olympic Stadium and the National Gymnastics Arena are going to be two of the 18 sports venues.
