【CES 2020】Display Trend – Innovative Displays Bring New Opportunities

LEDinside observed the on-going trend in the display industry that, apart from backlight technology revolution and big size display trend, novel display models are also focuses of many display manufacturers.

Currently TV brands can hardly show new tricks with conventional displays. As a result, they are trying to demonstrate innovative display models to attract attention of the consumers. At CES 2020, LEDinside found several companies following the direction.

Flexible and Curved Displays

Despite that flexible and curved displays are nothing new, exhibits at the show still amazed the visitors. LG continued its setting with a large display wall made by several flexible OLED displays. The show effect was impressive with surrounding sound.

SHARP also presented a 30-inch flexible OLED display with IGZO backplane, achieving a resolution of 4K. Even though smaller than the LG display, the product was still attracting.

Transparent Display

Many producers also launched transparent display at CES 2020. SHARP partners DNP to present transparent display and demonstrate various effects with laser projectors.

Skyworth showcased transparent OLED display as well.

Panasonic exhibited a 50-inch transparent display targeting commercial and automotive applications.

Innovative TV Frame

Samsung presented its 2019 version of The Serif. Different from conventional metal frame design, Samsung adopted special material and designed frame for TVs for fitting tailored home design.

Rotatable Display

Since smartphones are capable of capturing images or recording videos clips both vertically and horizontally, TV makers found that it is necessary to rotate their TVs to orient different pictures. Thus, rotatable TVs gained some attention at this year’s CES.
