VueReal Receives $8.5 Million Funding to Advance Micro LED Technology Development

Micro LED displays and devices developer VueReal has announced $8.5 million in funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) to support its project whose total investment is over $26 million. The funding will be used to further develop innovative Micro LED technologies by expanding its original research team and launching a new center with fabrication facility.

With the support of SDTC, VueReal will further leverage its partnerships with Angstrom, a Canadian manufacturer of industry-leading thin film deposition systems for PVD and CVD processes, and a large Asian electronics company. Earlier this year, VueReal also announced its collaboration with Veeco Instruments to work on technologies and processes to solve manufacturing issues of Micro LED.

VueReal has introduced a 4K Micro LED display with 6000 ppi in 2017 with its Continuous Pixelation technology. LEDinside was pleased to interview the company to further learn about its patented technologies including Continuous Pixelation technology, Solid Printing technology, and VueReal’s own driving scheme. With these key technologies, VueReal can reduce the cost and time to produce Micro LED displays.

“We are proud to have the support of this federal program, and collaborations with industry partners. The next steps include building an integrated pilot production system, engineering the equipment needed to enable VueReal’s proprietary Solid Printing™ process at commercial volumes, and enhancing the performance of micro-LEDs even further,” said Reza Chaji, Ph.D., CEO and Founder of VueReal.

David Pitts, President, Angstrom Engineering Inc, said, “We are excited to support VueReal in developing innovative solutions by providing engineering support for the deposition equipment required to create the micro-LED devices.”
