CV28A delivers more than double the screen nits of a standard SMD 2828 RGB signage LED, for example Cree LED’s own CLY6D. As pixel pitch increases, the non-directional output of the standard 2828 can’t put out enough light to achieve a minimum 7,500 nits for good visibility in full sunlight.
The advanced optics of CV28A provide color-matched, standard 45°/90° oval output – at the same shape and intensity as P2 signage LEDs, or even Cree LED’s first generation CV94A. The optic of CV28A puts the light only where it is needed, enabling more nits than any previous 2828 signage LED so it can work effectively at 10+ mm pixel pitch.
At pixel pitches of 10 mm and below, CV28A delivers higher screen nits at half the power of a standard SMD 2828 RGB signage LED (e.g., CLY6D). Note that the in the graph above, the CV28A is only operating at 10 mA per die instead of the 20 mA per die for the CLY6D.
