【NEPCON JAPAN】Smart Glasses Catch Eyes at WEARABLE EXPO

The trend of wearable devices can be observed at NEPCON Japan 2019. The concurrent show WEARABLE EXPO attracted a big crowd during the exhibition. LEDinside founded that smart glasses, head up display (HUD) and AR/VR devices were popular demonstration at the show.

 

Color Link Japan presents VR lenses module
Optical technology developer Color Link Japan exhibited two lenses modules designed for VR glasses. One is designed for 3D display application and the other features ultra-fast responding time to show smooth images when incorporated with drones.



Young Optics showcases wearable AR HUD module
Taiwan-based Young Optics partners Digilens to produce display modules for AR HUD. The module adopts DLP projecting technology which can generate a bigger eye box compared to other HUD. The LED light source of the product creates a brightness of 5,000 nits. Young Optics aims to connect the AR glasses to portable devices such as phone and tablet for charging and operation to eliminate the weight and size of battery and other systems, which allows design flexibility.



Mitsui Chemicals demonstrates vision changeable smart eyewear
Mitsui Chemicals introduces several types of smart glasses including one which enhances color contrast, a pair of UV sensing glass and Touch Focus, an e-eyewear that can change from far to near vision by touching a sensor embedded in the frame.

The e-eyewear integrate a compact battery, touch-activated sensor and a liquid crystal lens which changes focus once the sensor is activated. The battery embedded in the frame is USB chargeable



QD LASER presents RETISSA Display
QD LASER, a Fujitsu and Mitsui joint venture, demonstrated a pair of smart glasses which projects laser light directly on the retina of the human eye. The company claimed that the technology can be applied on AR device and serve as medical assistance for visual-impaired people.
